Women in Transition Meeting: March 10 at 1:00 p.m.

The Women in Transition’s March meeting will involve the participation of everyone and will be in celebration of Women’s History Month.  Please come prepared to briefly discuss the influence of a special woman in your life - who is NOT a family member.  This might be someone (living or deceased) from the arts, church, school, work, neighbor, organizations etc.  Your time to speak will be short - less than 3 minutes-  and will hopefully include specific qualities of this woman that has influenced you in your own life.  Below is a brief history of this very special month.

Women's History Month is a celebration of women's contributions to history, culture and society and is observed annually in March.   The US beginnings can be traced to 1978 when a weeklong celebration  of women's contributions was held in Sonoma, CA.  President Carter, in 1980,  issued the first Presidential Proclamation declaring a week in March as National Women's History Week.  In 1987, Congress passed Public Law 100-9, which expanded the celebration to a month-long observance. This was in response to a petition from the National Women's History Project.  Since 1988, presidents have issued annual proclamations designating March as Women's History Month. The theme for Women's History Month in 2025 is "Moving Forward Together! Women Educating & Inspiring Generations.” Contact Nancy Graml or Linda Siemers for more information.
