Dear Beloved Christ the King Community,
Lent is the church’s journey to Easter and a time of renewal. We focus on the death and resurrection of Jesus—and in turn focus on our own death and resurrection found in baptism. We who have been baptized into Christ have died to sin and are righteous saints of God. At the same time, we know that we struggle daily with sin as we seek to follow Jesus. This is the wonderful Lutheran understanding of sinner and saint.
I invite you to a special Lenten midweek Vespers this year, where we seek to honor our congregation’s 80th anniversary with this reflection series:
March 12th: “So much more they published it” - Our Church’s Beginning (Mark 7:31-37)
March 19th: “Come Holy Spirit” - Our Church Bells (1 Kings 8: 27-30)
March 26th: “Make a Joyful Noise” - Our Bach Organ (Psalm 100)
April 2nd: “Jesus Christ Conquers Sin and Death” - Our Font (1 Corinthians 15:50-58)
April 16th: “God’s Field” - Our Memorial Campus (1 Corinthians 3:1-9)
Our Vespers services will begin at 7pm. Starting around 6pm we will gather to share a potluck meal together. Opportunities to learn and share time together abound with book studies, children’s music, board games, Ukrainian egg painting, choir rehearsal, and journaling.
Please consider how you might participate in spiritual renewal this Lenten season with our spiritual home.
Grace and peace, and even more hope,
Pastor Jennifer
