Dear Faithful People of Christ the King Lutheran Church,
3 I heard a loud voice from the throne saying,
“See, the home of God is among mortals.
[God] will dwell with them;
they will be [God’s] peoples,
and God himself will be with them and be their God;
4 [and] will wipe every tear from their eyes.
(Revelation 21:3-4 – Second Reading, New Year’s Eve)
On this fifth day of Christmas, we celebrate what John the Revelator writes above: God’s home is with us here: Let us begin the new calendar year 2026 celebrating that truth and seeking God’s presence in us as Christ feeds us with himself; and finding Christ present in every person with whom we come in contact or with whom we share this fragile home we call Earth.
As 2025 closes and 2026 begins, I invite you to pray this Prayer of the Day for New Year’s Eve.
Eternal God, you have placed us in a world of space and time, and through the events of our lives you bless us with your love. Grant that in the new year we may know your presence, see your love at work, and live in the light of the event that gives us joy forever—the coming of your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.
Peace and Joy – and Courage!
Mandy
