Terri is a life-long Lutheran who has been a member of Christ the King Lutheran Evangelical Church for more than three decades. As a worship enabler, bellringer, and longtime coordinator of the Meals Team, her service to the congregation has focused on Worship and Congregational Care. Terri has been a member of the Congregation Council since 2019. She is Chair Emerita of the Department of Microbiology and Molecular Genetics at McGovern Medical School. Terri and her husband Ed Nikonowicz, who is Professor and Chair of the Biosciences Department of Rice University, were married at CtK. Their young adult children, Rebecca and Peter Nikonowicz, were baptized and confirmed at CtK. Terri enjoys traveling, hiking, bicycling, and kayaking. She does volunteer work with Freewheels Houston, Art for All Homes, and the American Society for Microbiology.
