About AMMPARO – May monthly mission offering recipient (click to donate online)
In December 2023, the AMMPARO Committee launched our sustaining campaign to help meet the basic needs of individuals and families served by our partner, St. James Family Life Center by pledging to provide 100lbs of rice, 100lbs of beans, 40 boxes of spaghetti, and $200/month in rental and utility support to St. James Family Life Center.
The center actively supports the needs of a primarily immigrant community in the Garden Oaks/Oak Forest area. Their work includes providing staple food items through their food pantry, rental and utility assistance based on need and emergent situations, as well as outreach to nearby apartment complexes where they connect families with additional resources and support. The center also conducts citizenship classes, immigration forums, financial workshops, and ESL classes.
With May’s monthly mission offering, we will strive to grow our goal and welcome, empower and support immigrant individuals and families served by St. James Family Life Center. Join us now and in the future in our partnership with the people of St. James Family Life Center.
May 12th Adult Educational Forum
Please join us in learning more about how St. James serves the needs of individuals in the community. The forum will feature a short video about three young women’s border crossing and immigration experiences. St. James’ director, Robert Rivera, will share about the center’s work and two additional individuals who have benefited from the center’s services will share about their unique perspectives and experiences in the United States.
