Magnolia City Brass Band – Sunday, November 24 at 5:00 p.m.

The Magnolia City Brass Band, supported by the Houston Arts Alliance, is proud to present an evening celebrating female composers and performers in the world of exhilarating brass band music at Christ the King Lutheran Church (Rice Village). Highlights include Imogen Holst’s lively The Unfortunate Traveller, Dorothy Gates’ stirring arrangement of Sibelius’ Finlandia, and Ennio Morricone’s moving Gabriel’s Oboe. Featured performers include flügelhornist Audrey Foster and a stellar women’s quartet—cornetists Lydia Hanje and Sarah Perkins, tenor horn player Deborah Harvey, and solo euphonium Anne Wertz—showcasing their remarkable talents in Philip Sparke’s Concerto Grosso. The evening will also feature Peter Graham’s rousing Gaelforce and Leos Janáček’s thrilling Sokol fanfare from Sinfonietta.
