Help support St. James Family Life Center emergency assistance and other programs

Supported by a partnership with CTK, St. James Family Life Center provides emergency assistance–food, rent and utilities relief–to immigrants and others facing challenges in the Garden Oaks/Oak Forest area.

The needs in the community are great. In 2022, the center served 203 families at the food pantry and provided emergency cash assistance totaling $26,950 to 121 families in need. The center also had two ESL classes for beginners taught by Christ the King AMMPARO members Carolyn Jacobs, Rebecca Shields and Linda Alexander, four citizenship classes and seven immigration counseling sessions at community events.

The center will celebrate 10 years of service and support for the community on April 29th at 6:00pm located at St. James Lutheran Church. Please save the date for an evening recognizing the contributions of the founders, volunteers, and donors that have contributed in making St. James Family Life Center a success. CTK’s AMMPARO committee seeks to sustain and grow our partnership by helping raise $25,000 in recognition of this pivotal anniversary.

The Family Life Center aims to raise $10,000 for Camp Hope; $10,000 for Immigration and $5,000 for Family Assistance. Please join us in a spirit of generosity for those who are marginalized in our city.

Every donation helps! Please continue to follow our news posts. If you have a special interest in volunteering with St. James Family Life Center, please be in touch with Emily Triantaphyllis via email: ewtrianta@gmail.com.
