Confirmation Class

Confirmation class is generally taught for students in grades 6, 7, and 8, though special circumstances regarding when a student begins the curriculum may be accommodated. First, second, and third-year students are taught together.

Our confirmation class meets on Sundays at 9:45 a.m. using hybrid technology so that we can have youth join in-person or online together. We use a three-year rotation cycle to study scripture, Martin Luther’s Small Catechism, church history, and world religions. Our Confirmation schedule is the following:

Confirmation Class is on break for the summer and will start back up on Rally Day Sunday on September 13, 2026! See below for our schedule:

September 2026:

6: No Class- Labor Day Weekend
13: Rally Day and Confirmation Orientation (Parents and Youth)
20: Introduction to the Small Catechism
27: Germany Trip Sunday Forum

October 2026:

4: Commandment 1
11: Commandment 2 & 3
18: Commandment 4 & 5
25: Commandment 6 & 7

The goal of our time together is to guide our youth in developing their own language of the Christian faith and accompany them to affirming their baptismal promises at the end of their 8th-grade year. However, those older have an opportunity to affirm their faith through intensive course with Deacon Ben Remmert.

Confirmation class begins on Rally Day in September with an orientation and ends on the first Sunday of May each year with a celebration brunch. The curriculum culminates in a public Affirmation of Baptism and the completion of a “Confirmation Project” in a celebrative Confirmation Sunday service in May of each year.

Confirmation Class Projects

Our Confirmation Classes affirm their baptisms and display a Confirmation Project for the congregation to experience on their Confirmation Sunday that traditionally is in the month of May.

The Confirmation Project is an important component of the confirmation experience. It is an opportunity for our students to creatively make their personal statement of faith. At baptism, parents and sponsors (as well as the congregation) promise to raise their children in the faith. Confirmation is the affirmation of that promise. We know (and love) that each child of God has different gifts and passions, and love seeing the creativity of our young people. These are just a few of the projects done from the past.
