Dear Beloved Christ the King Community,

Yesterday morning, we gathered for a wonderful adult forum that was our RIC Pride Month Kick Off, which not only gave us great information on Pride Flags and the Stonewall Movement, but also some courageous personal stories.

If you are curious and want to know more about what it means for us to be an RIC congregation, you can learn more here:  reconcilingworks.org

One of the special events that our RIC team is hosting later this month for Pride month is:

Pride Movie Night- 1946: A Mistranslation that Shifted Culture: June 21 at 4 p.m. at the Rice Village Parish Hall. This documentary focuses on why bible translators decided to introduce the word, homosexual/homosexuality, in their translations, thus changing our culture’s approach to the LGBT community.  Please come to be part of this important conversation.

We will also commemorate Pride Sunday on the last Sunday of this month, June 29th.

Thank you to our RIC team for helping our spiritual home live into our mission of being welcoming and inclusive, while valuing the image of God in all of us.  Those who currently serve on our RIC team are:Joe Dygert- Chair, Judith Richey, Lisa Miller, Maureen Lamson, Rachel McWhirter, and Pastor Sergio Rodriguez (Ex Oficio).

May we continue to strive to be a safe space for all of God’s beloved children to gather, worship, learn, and serve together.

For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor rulers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 8:38-39)

Grace and peace, and even more hope!

Pastor Jennifer
