Greetings, Beloved Christ the King Community!
Time feels different to me this week. Kids are heading to school; our fall programming is solidifying; and many of you are returning or getting ready to return to Houston.
I am very excited about some of the new opportunities we will have at our spiritual home and beyond this fall and will be sharing them with all of you over the next several weeks. But first, it is time to pause and reinforce our foundation. This is a technique well known to teachers who begin the year with evaluations and review.
For us, this means looking at what we already have and how it can be strengthened so that we can move forward with confidence. And so, I invite you to be on the lookout for our Repair, Refresh, Renew Appeal. The first part of this appeal will be focusing on hospitality, safety, and mission and will include repair of our Rice Village Campus parking lot, along with repair caused by Hurricane Beryl to our Rice Village Campus and the parsonage. In addition, we will be coordinating a work day to care for our Memorial Campus.
The Repair, Refresh, Renew Appeal firms up the foundation of our spiritual home, providing hospitality and safety to newcomers and oldcomers, while freeing us to move outward in mission, to "be bread" in our community.
I am super excited to see what we can accomplish together, participating in God's mission in Houston and beyond!
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. (Romans 15:13).
Grace and peace, and even more hope!
Pastor Jennifer
