Dear faithful People of Christ the King Lutheran Church:

Christ the King’s 2026 summer hiatus concludes this week, along with several property-maintenance projects at both campuses. A PowerPoint presentation is now available on the Parish Hall foyer monitor so you can see the completed work. We are grateful for the diligence of Michael Sheffield, our Property Management Supervisor, and invite you to note the following updates.

  1. A second AED defibrillator has been installed in the narthex, supplementing the existing unit near the elevator.
  2. The second floor of the education building is available again. After a sixteen-week wait, the air handler was replaced last week, so youth activities, Confirmation instruction, council and other meetings, and Friday Bible studies may once again meet comfortably in the Youth Room.
  3. September 4 is the last Friday the Church Office will be closed for the summer. Beginning Tuesday, September 8, 2026, the office will be open Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m.
  4. Our aging fob security system will soon be replaced with one designed to be more secure and easier to use. Once the new system is installed, congregation members who need building access—altar guild and choir members, in-person Bible Study participants, Quilters, Sew Loved participants, Council members, and others—will receive clear access instructions. Please watch for updates.

As weekly activities resume at Christ the King, please keep these Rice University parking instructions in mind.

Peace and Joy – and Courage!
