Dear faithful People of Christ the King Lutheran Church:
Alleluia! Christ is risen!
Christ is risen indeed! Alleluia!
May is always an exciting and busy month at Christ the King Lutheran Church and May 2026 is no exception. Liturgically, this month includes two guest preachers, confirmation, Pentecost, and Holy Trinity Sunday. Contemplative 6:00 pm Saturday Eucharists continue uninterrupted as usual. Here are the Sunday highlights.
May 10, the Sixth Sunday of Easter includes the recognition of graduates from high schools, colleges, and universities.
May 17, the Seventh Sunday of Easter includes two very important parish events at the 11:00 am liturgy: Confirmation of this year’s class and guest preacher, the Rev. Dr. Mitri Raheb, the pastor of the Evangelical Lutheran Christmas Church in Bethlehem, Palestine and the founder and president of the Diyar Consortium, a group of Lutheran-based, ecumenically-oriented institutions serving the Bethlehem area and the founder and Founder and President of Dar al-Kalima University in Bethlehem and Bright Stars of Bethlehem, one of our monthly mission offering recipients.
May 17 is also Norwegian Constitution Day (Syttende Mai), Norway's national day, celebrating the signing of the constitution at Eidsvoll on May 17, 1814, which declared Norway an independent nation. Our Norwegian Church partners at Memorial Drive will hold a massive, festive celebration from 5:00pm – 8:00 pm that evening, and we are invited to join this festive occasion.
May 24 is Pentecost and at all liturgies we will celebrate God’s gift of the Holy Spirit – everyone is urged to wear red – and the conclusion of Easter’s Fifty Days. Our annual Pentecost Picnic follows the 11:00 am Eucharist.
May 30 and 31 marks the beginning of “Ordinary Time” – Sundays after Pentecost. At the 11:00 am Eucharist, the Rev. Dr. David A. Brondos, Professor of Theology and Biblical Studies at the Theological Community of Mexico (another mission partner) will be our preacher. Also on this Sunday, our choir concludes its remarkable 2025-2026 season with our thanks for their service!
Please watch for information on a Pentecost Picnic with our Partners at our Memorial Drive campus tentatively planned for Saturday, May 30.
Alleluia! Christ is risen!
Christ is risen indeed! Alleluia!
