Dear faithful People of Christ the King Lutheran Church:

Alleluia! Christ is risen!

Christ is risen indeed! Alleluia!

With the whole Church, we are moving quickly to the conclusion of what used to be called “The festival portion” of the year, which runs from the First Sunday in Advent through Holy Trinity Sunday. Only three of these festival Sundays remain – May 17, the Seventh Sunday of Easter; May 24, Pentecost; and May 31, Holy Trinity Sunday; and something special will happen on each.

At 11:00 am on May 17, the Seventh Sunday of Easter, this year’s confirmation class with affirm their faith and be confirmed. Our preacher at that liturgy (and speaker at the 9:45 am forum) will be the Rev. Dr. Mitri Raheb from Bethlehem, Palestine. Given how critical events in the Middle East continue to be, Mitri will be especially helpful for us.

May 24 is Pentecost, the conclusion of Easter’s Fifty Day. Our congregation really knows how to celebrate Pentecost; everyone wears red; we hear the story of Pentecost in “many tongues;” and our annual Pentecost Picnic follows the 11:00 am Eucharist. The Stations of the Resurrection will be removed from our nave after these services.

On May 30 and 31, we celebrate Holy Trinity Sunday, which is our choir’s final Sunday until the Fall.  At 11:00 am, the Rev. Dr. David A. Brondos from Mexico City – whose mission we support – will be our guest preacher. Our nave will also be graced by “Stations of Creation” to assist us with spiritual resources as we continue to care for creation.

Watch your email this week!  We’ll be announcing our new and long-awaited fulltime Property Management Supervisor! I think you’ll all be as pleased as Cheryl and I!

Alleluia! Christ is risen!

Christ is risen indeed! Alleluia!
