Dear beloved Christ the King Community,
This past weekend, we celebrated the Reformation and this next weekend we celebrate All Saints' Day. How appropriate it is to both look back at our past saints' lives and the examples they left for us, as we also look forward toward the future of our spiritual home.
If you missed worship this past weekend, please check out both our Generosity Temple Talk and our weekend sermon. Kathy Collins gave a wonderful temple talk that encouraged us to continue building on the faithful foundation already in place at Christ the King, while sharing why Christ the King is a priority for her and Bill and why they are excited about where our momentum is taking us. We also heard 17-year-old Ethan Pelletier share an inspiring message, offering vulnerability in sharing his own story of his battle with cancer and also hope, declaring, "I am free." Ethan encouraged us to "help each other, even in small ways, we can all do our part; to make sure that we remain free, and that our neighbors can remain free as well."
One upcoming way we can help our neighbors is through our annual Christ the King Festival, themed this year, "Breaking Bread: A Feast of Flavor and Community." If you are new to Christ the King, you may be asking a good Lutheran question, "What is this?" On Friday, November 15th, we will gather in the Parish Hall for yummy food and a fun evening spent in community with each other. This important fundraiser provides an opportunity for us to participate in God's mission by deepening our commitment to our community partners.
And its so much fun! "Sociables" will be offered that I would describe as fun connection events that members offer both in their homes and around the city. At the CTK Festival, you will be able to claim your spot for whatever activity sounds exciting to you, where you will meet other members who have similar interests. We also will share in a yummy meal together, raffle this year's beautiful quilt, and auction off a variety of special items. Watch for sneak peeks of some of the items over the next two weeks.
What an exciting fall it has been and continues to be!
1 Cor 3:9 "For we are God's servants, working together; you are God's field, God's building."
Grace and peace, and even more hope,
Pastor Jennifer
