Walk-Through Martin Luther Godly Play Story

Sunday, October 25, 1:00 p.m. on-site at CTK

Sunday School students are invited to a “walk-through Martin Luther Godly Play story” on Reformation Sunday, October 25 at 1:00 p.m. Come and see the lightning that so frightened young Martin Luther. Read the 95 Theses nailed onto the door. Join Luther, going by the alias “Knight George” at Wartburg Castle, where he translated the New Testament and wrestled with the Devil. Meet Martin and his wife, Katharina, as they sit at their table, and join them in singing.

Be amazed at the huge stack of writing he and his colleagues, especially Philip Melanchthon, created: pamphlets, books, sermons, hymns and more. Finally, see and discuss the Luther Rose and take away the makings of one of your own to finish at home. There might even be pieces of the giant Lego Luther Rose left from classes a few years ago that you can take home and work on.

Your Godly Play teachers will set up well-distanced tables and even Martin Luther will be wearing a mask. Even though we will be seeing one another in person, we will all stay a safe distance apart, wear masks, and use plenty of disinfectant on our hands. Look for the set-up in either the courtyard or in the parish hall.

Let’s celebrate Reformation in style, walking through Luther’s story and taking a little bit home to remember him by.
