Book Discussion Series: Jesus and the Disinherited by Howard Thurman
Thursday, February 17 and 24 at 7:00 p.m. via zoom
Did you enjoy our study on the Letter from the Birmingham Jail by MLK Jr.? Now read and discuss the book that inspired the letter!
Join us this Thursday February 17th and next Thursday, February 24th via zoom to discuss Howard Thurman’s Jesus and the Disinherited (Beacon Press Books, 102 pages. 1996). Howard Thurman, mystic, pastor, theologian and a spiritual Mentor to MLK Jr. wrote Jesus and the Disinherited as a spiritual response to segregation. What does the religion of Jesus mean to those whose backs are against the wall (i.e. segregation)?
For this week our study will be called Against the Hounds of Hell: Introduction to the ministry of Howard Thurman in addressing Fear, Deception, and Hatred in communities of color. (pg. 26-78)
