Michael Busbey and Hellen Rios Carrillo will introduce the congregation to the ELCA’s Guardian Angel initiative – a program that provides spiritual and physical accompaniment of unaccompanied migrant children and families through their immigration court process. The AMMPARO committee seeks to begin this initiative in the Houston area in early fall.

Paulo Freire (1921-1997), was one of the most important figures of the twentieth century in the area of education. His pedagogical methodology focused on critical thinking and “conscientization” as a means to challenge the status quo and promote social justice and equity.
