Worshipers will have the opportunity to receive laying on of hands during a rite of healing at the Taizé and Sunday morning services on October 15 and 16. The church commemorates St. Luke the Evangelist on October 18. His gospel has accompanied us throughout this church year. Luke was a physician and co-worker with the apostle Paul in mission and evangelization. In his gospel he carefully puts the events of Jesus’ life in their social and religious contexts. He has given us some of the most beloved parables (prodigal son, Zacchaeus e.g.), as well as the songs of Zechariah, Mary, the angels, and Simeon. The church has traditionally associated Luke with the healing power of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
