The annual Bach Festival in Leipzig is an exciting event, with performances by some of the world’s finest artists at venues that breathe Bach’s spirit and bear the traces of his predecessors and successors. The Bach Society invites members and friends to travel with them for a week in June at the festival. For more information contact Bach Society Houston.
In Peru, Christ the King Church has developed a partnership with four small Lutheran congregations in the town of Trujillo. A youth trip, led by ministry staff and several other adults was the first connection with Trujillo and there has been numerous trips to get to know these congregations better. For more information about the Peru companionship, see http://www.gulfcoastsynod.org/JusticePeruTrips.html. One month of the year, Peru is the focus of our mission offering. Please join our congregation’s Peru Team. Spanish speakers are especially welcome! Watch for details of the summer 2019 trip to be announced.
Youth Germany Trip
Youth have an opportunity to travel to Germany during spring break once every two years. The days are framed by morning and evening prayer in historic churches where Luther lived and taught. Throughout each day there are all kinds of options ranging from recreation and service to history, art and hands-on in-person learning and fellowship. Day trips are offered to Eisleben, Wartburg Castle in Eisenach, Erfurt, Dresden, Berlin, Wittenberg, and Leipzig. Highlights of the trip include staying overnight Augustinian Monetary in Erfurt where Luther studied, visiting Wittenberg to see the famous door where Luther nailed the 95 Theses, white water rafting in Leipzig, Wartburg Castle Tours in Eisenach, staying with host families in Leizpig, and so much more.
