This Wednesday Pastor Larson offers in his final “Midweek Meditation” a reflection on the meaning and impact of Psalm 90 for God’s people since it was first sung around 1000 BC. The Psalm through its many translations, including the King James version, shared in this meditation, speaks to God’s authority and faithfulness to God’s people. The famous hymn “O God Our Help in Ages Past” is a reflection on that psalm, as is also a more recent hymn by Herman Stuempfle. They all emphasize how at different times in different ways, after travail and in the face of change, we rest secure in God’s security with us, even as our spirits flail and bodies fail. No wonder the psalm is a personal and communal favorite over millennia. Guest organist Ben Kerswell accents the theme with the marvelous work of his own hands. God prospers us!
