When Jesus taught the prayer that is known to us as the Lord’s Prayer or the Our Father, the intent of the petitions and even some phrases were closely modeled on the Kaddish, a prayer of praise laced with fervent petitions for God’s kingdom and for peace to come. The Kaddish belongs to the core of Jewish worship as does the Lord’s Prayer in our worship and devotional life. Enjoy the gift of the Lord’s Prayer with your ears and your eyes tonight, with Cantor Rick playing organ preludes on the Our Father, and Pastor Karin leading through the Our Father cycle by German artist Siegfried Arno Gottlieb Angermüller.
