Making Sense of the Christian Faith
Among the adult education offerings for 2014 is the class on “Making Sense of the Christian Faith” led by Pastor Robert Moore. The text for the class is Bradley Hanson’s Introduction to Christian Theology (Fortress Press, 1997). The text is available from Amazon in paperback or electronic versions. The class will organize on January 8 and discussion will begin the next Wednesday around Chapter 7 “Christ's Work of Reconciliation.”
Grappling with the church’s various ways of interpreting the work of Christ will be especially meaningful as we approach the season of Lent and Holy Week. Many will be surprised to find that their understanding of Christ’s ministry, death and resurrection is but one aspect of a rich array of biblical interpretations used by the church.
An added treat will be the presence of the author of the text, Bradley Hanson, professor emeritus of Luther College in Decorah, Iowa. Brad and his wife Marion are frequent visitors to Christ the King Church.
