Introduction to Contemplative Prayer September 10
"Centuries Old Christian Meditative Tradition Is Thriving"
Robert Hesse, PhD

Our Community of Hope invites all members and friends to join them on Thursday, September 10, 6:00-7:30 p.m. in the parish hall for a teaching and experiential session on centering prayer. Centering prayer is a silent method of prayer to prepare oneself to be in the receptive state for receiving the beautiful gift of contemplative prayer. This way of praying originated with the 4th century desert church fathers and mothers in Egypt and continued through the centuries to our more contemporary mystics Trappist monks, Thomas Merton and Thomas Keating.

This presentation will include the history, theology, methodology, psychology, science, and resulting fruits of this prayer practice. It will end with an actual centering prayer session, which will enable you to experience the prayer.  Come and spend some time in a more contemplative, restful mode and allow one of the Christianity’s most ancient, authentic and profound prayer practices to heal you with renewed resolve to deepen your spirituality and to grow closer to God. This session may change the way you pray!
