Dear Christ the King members and friends,

In the tender compassion of our God, Joen Marie Larson died on June 29, 2022, at home in Princeton, Iowa, in the care and support of her husband, Rev. Dr. Duane Larson, former Senior Pastor of Christ the King Church. Dr. Joen Larson was a beloved educator and professor, spouse and grandmother, mentor and friend. We will send out the details about the arrangements when they are available.

Please join us in prayer commending Joen to God’s loving embrace:

Into your hands, O merciful Savior, we commend your servant, Joen.

Acknowledge, we humbly beseech you,

  a sheep of your own fold,

  a lamb of your own flock,

  a sinner of your own redeeming.

Receive her into the arms of your mercy,

into the blessed rest of everlasting peace,

and into the glorious company of the saints in light. Amen.

We pray for Joen’s family and friends:

Almighty God, 

source of all mercy and giver of comfort, graciously tend to all who mourn,

that, casting all their sorrow on you, they may know the consolation of your love;

through your Son, Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord Amen.

We pray also for one another as we mourn the loss of loved ones and live in these difficult days:

Merciful God, in the stillness of our souls

we listen for your voice to know again that you are God.

Quiet our restless hearts with the knowledge

that you stand with us in the shadows, keeping watch over your own.

Rekindle our faith and light the lamp of hope within our hearts.

Then deal with us as seems best to you,

for where you lead, we can confidently go with Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord.

Amen.

Eternal rest grant her, O Lord, and may light perpetual shine upon her. Amen.
