A powerful presentation of the Gospel of Mark will be presented by Professor Philip Ruge-Jones, chair of the Department of Theology, Philosophy, and Classical Languages at Texas Lutheran University. Dr. Ruge-Jones returns to Christ the King Church on March 22 (Sunday) at 5:00 p.m. in the second floor council room. The presentation takes approximately 2 ½ hours with one intermission.
Mark is the dominant gospel of the Revised Common Lectionary being read during this liturgical year. To gain a sweeping experience of the gospel as a whole, will add depth to the spiritual experience of the participants, especially prior to Holy Week which begins on March 29.
Dr. Ruge-Jones has distinguished himself in his work in Systematic Theology with numerous publications. He is an active member of The Network of Biblical Storytellers, “an international organization whose purpose is to communicate the sacred stories of the biblical tradition.”
Dr. Ruge-Jones is a rostered pastor in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. He is married to the Rev. Lori Ruge-Jones, pastor of Living Word, Lutheran Church in Buda, Texas. They have two children, Luisa and Lucas.
