When the scriptures speak about “time,” most often the “time” is urgent and short. Something is to be done and God steps in dramatically to recruit people to do that something. When time was short for Nineveh, God ordered Jonah to get the word out. When Ninevah affirmed time’s urgency, God opened up time for Ninevah and Jonah got angry. In real time Jesus comes among his friends and says that time is short. He and his friends must get to work. Time has been urgent and yet also opened for us since. What opens time? Repentance, forgiveness, reconciliation. And here we are, still trying to figure out what God has figured from the beginning. Pastor Duane preaches on “Repentance & Forgiveness: Time is Opened When Time is Short.”
