On Sunday afternoon, Sept. 21, people of different faiths came together to conduct a “trash bash” and perform trail maintenance at Japhet Creek Nature Park, located at the corner of Clinton & Emile on Houston’s east side (and shown in the photo on the left). This event, organized by the Creation Care Team with partners from other faith organizations, occurs twice each year, once in the spring and once in the fall. At the 2014 fall event, an additional partner was the Japhet Creek Nature Conservancy, who directed the work at the park. The hard-working volunteers succeeded in clearing overgrowth from 1 mile of trail, and cleaning out enough waste/debris to fill quite a few large trash bags. Watch for an announcement of the spring 2015 Interfaith Environmental Stewardship Event coming soon Japhet Creek Nature Park.
