Bread for the World   Mother’s Day Offering of Letters

More than 270 million people are facing extreme hunger—up from 135 million before the pandemic. The levels of U.S hunger are now higher than during the Great Depression, and the social and economic impact of the pandemic continues to devastate families and communities in the U.S. and around the world.
Because of your persistent advocacy, Congress passed the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021. The legislation contains numerous provisions that will help people struggling with hunger and poverty. But there is more to do as we continue to address the ripple effects of COVID-19.
We encourage you to write your representatives to ask them to make the Child Tax Credit permanent and available to all children. We can also ask them to increase U.S. leadership and funding for global nutrition programs.
