Campus Ministry Taco Fundraiser This Sunday!
Campus Ministry Fall Generosity Letter
Dear Members and Friends of Christ the King Lutheran Church,
God wants you to ask questions! Lutheran Campus Ministry at Rice University starts the academic year with a lot of spirit. We invite you to join us and to prayerfully consider upcoming activities for your own involvement in this ministry of our church:
- On Sunday, August 21, after worship, at the Rice Village Campus, Lutheran Campus Ministry at Rice will host lunch – a Move-In Taco Celebration. The proceeds of this fundraiser will positively impact the Fall-semester activities of this ministry. An anonymous parishioner is underwriting the expenses of this event. And an anonymous parishioner will match each plate sold dollar for dollar up to 150 plates. Come enjoy lunch for $10/plate (with vegan options available).
- On Saturday, September 3, students of Lutheran Campus Ministry at Rice will travel to St. James Family Life Center to learn about its ministry to immigrant families in Houston and to participate in a food distribution. You are invited to support their distribution by donating the following: cereal, oatmeal, beans, rice, peanut butter, canned fruits, canned mixed veggies, pastas, salt, sugar, flour, tuna, canned soup, macaroni, baby diapers, baby formula, and baby food. We are collecting these items now until September 1 in the church narthexes of the West Campus and Rice Village.
- In Late September, Lutheran Campus Ministry at Rice will host the first of our speaker series at Rice University. Our speaker series addresses big question matters in society and faith-filled responses. Look on our Instagram page (lcm_at_rice) and Christ the King website for exact time and date.

Pub Theology August 14
Young adults are invited for conversation with Pastor Duane Larson at the Ginger Man pub, located at 5607 Morningside Dr., this Sunday, August 14, at 7:30 p.m. As Christ the King’s Interim Pastor he looks forward to getting to know you, learning much about you, from you, and with you, as well as just having fun. Please add this second Sunday event to your monthly routine to not only enjoy a brew (or other beverage) and discuss matters of faith and life, but also to see what more we might do together to shape our lives and careers with spiritual healthiness.
