Canonical Hours in the Home and via Zoom

Beginning Saturday, April 3 at midnight every three hours

The Canonical Hours mark the course of Holy Saturday, every three hours. This year they are prayed in the comfort of worshipers’ homes. All are invited to participate. Canonical Hours are short prayer times consisting of readings, a psalm and prayer. A hymn is appointed to each prayer hour which can be read or sung as desired. The Canonical Hours commence Saturday at midnight, 12:00 a.m. and end at 6 p.m. before sunset. Those who like to pray with the church community may join Deacon Ben Remmert via Zoom for each of the seven prayer times by clicking below or use the Canonical Hours booklet to pray at home:

12:00 a.m. Matins: The Virgins (watchful waiting)
3:00 a.m. Lauds: The Tomb (ecstatic praise)
6:00 a.m. Prime: The Martyrs (consecrated service)
9:00 a.m. Terce: The Fire (unceasing dependence)
12:00 p.m. Sext: The Cross (humble supplication)
3:00 p.m. None: The Throne (steadfast perseverance)
6:00 p.m. Vespers: The Supper (fervent thanksgiving)
