Child Nutrition Act: End Summer Hunger
Urge elected officials to expand benefits into the summer to ensure that no child goes without food while school is out of session.
An estimated 11.2 million U.S. children are at risk of hunger, according to the United States Department of Agriculture. For children, even brief periods of hunger carry consequences that may last a lifetime. Reauthorization of the Child Nutrition Act, as well as the budget and appropriations processes, provide important opportunities to strengthen, streamline, and modernize federal child nutrition programs.
