Ash Wednesday, our launch into Lent, is not only about sacrifice and surely not about pretended humility. Ash Wednesday grows in popularity with non-institutionally religious people because it is honest about our limits and our mortality. Honest Christian faith affirms Lent as a time again to “live trustingly in the skin God gave us.” Living so honestly and thus so fully, we’ll also gladly receive what God gives after! Join us, then, on Ash Wednesday and through Lent, as we reflect anew on the meaning of trust.
