Lenten disciplines traditionally comprise repentance, prayer, fasting, and works of love. The Creation Care Team invites all members and friends of Christ the King Church to engage in Lenten disciplines with a creation-care focus.
Consider observing a Lenten fast which cares for all creation, by eating vegetarian one day per week. The Creation Care Team has provided six recipes on Christ the King Church’s webpage under creation-care-opportunities, and also recommends: lutheransrestoringcreation.org/vegetarian-Mondays.
Works of Love
Participate in a work of love and care for all creation – building a garden for at-risk youth from impoverished communities on Sunday, March 30, from 1:30 – 4:30 p.m. Youth Going Green Community Garden develops gardening, leadership and social skills in these youth, while providing nourishing food. Garden activities for all ages and skill levels will be available. Please email Lisa Brenskelle if you plan to participate.
Weekly Lenten reflections published by Earth and Spirit Center offer prayer, bible reading, a meditation, and sensible positive things one can do to make a difference in caring for God’s creation. Access to the resource is through signing up with earthandspiritcenter.org. Look for Lent 4.5.
