AMMPARO is a mission of the ELCA to Accompany Migrant Minors with Protection, Advocacy, Representation and Opportunities.
As a congregation we are commited to support and advocate for compassionate immigration policies that affect migrants from Central America on Texas’ Southern Border as well as our neighbors in the Houston community.

Our June Mission Offering will support the Christ the King AMMPARO Committee’s activities. The committee reviews needs and resources on an ongoing basis. Recent initiatives include:

  • Enhancing efforts by St. James Lutheran Church/Santiago Apòstol to provide financial and other assistance to immigrants often excluded from government programs, and
  • Supplementing the Christ the King Lutheran Church Foundation’s 2021 grant that will provide funding for application fees for young people applying for protection under the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. According to our partners at BakerRipley, there is a high need for financial support of these applicants and this is a very impactful way to donate
