Join Benedictine monks, Br. Michael Gallagher (left top) and Fr. Peter Funk (left bottom), for a Day of Prayer on Saturday, September 29, 10:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. at Christ the King Lutheran Church. This retreat, hosted by our congregation’s Community of Hope*, is intended to refresh the spirit and enliven one’s ministry in daily life.

Michael Gallagher, OSB and Peter Funk, OSB are Benedictine monks, spiritual directors, and co-founders of Holy Cross Monastery in Beaumont, TX. They lead retreats and workshops on music, prayer, lectio divina, and Benedictine life and spirituality. Brother Michael has degrees in music from Penn State and law from Villanova. He practiced law in Philadelphia and New York for a decade before entering Mount Savior Monastery in New York in 1988. Fr. Peter was ordained in Philadelphia in 1964. His ministry has included prison, high school teaching, campus ministry and
parish work. Formerly a monk of Mount Savior in New York, he came to Beaumont to co-found Holy Cross Monastery with Br. Michael in 1998.

*The Community of Hope International was founded to form praying communities, encouraging each other in love, to be a non-judgmental listening presence to those we encounter on a daily basis. The spirituality of St. Benedict, reflected in the wisdom of his Rule, lights our way to truly become a Gospel people proclaiming God’s love for all of creation.
