The Air We Breathe, Water We Drink,
the Created World with Whom We Partner
The November Sunday Forum presentations will be dedicated to the theme of the care of creation. Christ the King Church is enrolled in a certification program with GreenFaith Interfaith Partners for the Environment (www.greenfaith.org). Thanks to the work of the Creation Care Team we have become more aware of all the aspects by which we are part and parcel of God’s creation, and of our call to stewardship for the created world.
November 24 – Environmental Justice Advocacy
Juan Parras, President of t.e.j.a.s. (Texas Environmental Justice Advocacy Services), began working in the area of environmental justice in 1994, beginning at the Louisiana Labor Neighbor Project, then on to the Greenpeace USA, Toxic Campaign and then the Texas Southern University, Environmental Law and Justice Clinic. He founded t.e.j.a.s. in 2005, with a primary focus on the east end of Houston, where most industry is concentrated. Using volunteers, t.e.j.a.s offers toxic tours of the east end and participates in numerous local, state, national, and international programs addressing environmental justice issues. He will speak on the work of t.e.j.a.s. in the area and around the world.
