Linda Schoene, RNC-OB, MSN, was commissioned as the Congregational Nurse for Christ the King in December, 2001. She coordinates the work of the Health Ministry Team whose efforts focus on support, education, and advocacy. She is available for health concern consultation, as well as home and hospital visitation. Linda completed the basic preparation course for Faith Community Nursing (also known as parish nursing) in 2005 at the University of Incarnate Word in San Antonio, Texas.
Linda feels blessed to be able to practice nursing in the context of her faith. She reflects, “Caring and Compassion within a community of faith are important cornerstones of health ministry. When faced with an illness or other health challenges, people depend on the strength that comes from the faith community.
Linda began her nursing career in 1972 in Upstate New York with a focus on obstetrical nursing. After moving to Houston she completed her Master’s in Nursing from the University of Texas Health Science Center Houston in 2003. She is a member of the Texas Health Ministry Network and the Evangelical Lutheran Parish Nurse Association. In addition to her work as a congregational nurse she is a clinical education specialist with the Memorial Hermann Healthcare System and an adjunct clinical faculty member at the University of Texas Health Science Center of Nursing in Houston. She and her husband James Schoene have three grown children and one grandson.
