Hearing the Promise: Lectio Divina in Lent
Members and friends of the congregation are invited to participate in the spiritual practice of Lectio Divina. This ancient, reflective way of reading scripture elicits personal responses to the reading in the setting of a small, safe group. One group meets Wednesday nights in the basement youth room, 6:15-7:00 p.m. with a 20 minute Lenten Vespers service following. The other group meets Thursdays, 1:30-2:30 p.m. in room 212 on the second floor. The theme for both Lectio classes will be “Hearing the Promise,” reading the Old Testament lessons for the following Sunday.

Lenten Study
A Lenten study on food choices made as an expression of Christian faith takes place Wednesdays at 6:15 p.m. on the third floor. The book Food and Faith: Justice, Joy, and Daily Bread may be purchased online. The Creation Care Team also invites you to consider stewardship of water resources using weekly Lenten reflections provided by the Ecumenical Water Network

A Lenten Fast
The Creation Care Team invites the congregation to observe a Lenten fast by either eating vegetarian one day per week or by engaging in a carbon fast. Vegetarian recipes are accessible on the church’s website to assist with the vegetarian fast.
