Calling all Cooks and Bottlewashers
Our Food Service Ministry Team will resume delighting our hungry Wednesday night participants this school year. We are blessed with great cooking, as well as serving and cleaning talent, in our congregation. All members who enjoy good food and good fellowship are invited to join us by volunteering one Wednesday during the fall semester. Food service will be from 5:30-6:40 p.m. each Wednesday from September 5 through November 28. We have a full range of positions available from skilled to unskilled (from cooks to servers to dishwashers). And not only do Food Service Ministry Team volunteers get the satisfaction of serving others, but they also get a free meal. How’s that for a great deal! Contact Beverly Davis.

Children’s Time on Sundays – Adults, peak in!

This week all children will spend their time working on the Lego Luther Rose and other projects, and will finish with a feast. Anyone who is curious about the Godly Play feast is welcome to join us at 9:45 a.m. in room 212. Our goal is still to finish one row each week in the giant Lego Luther Rose.

Stop by the Crafts Workshop!
A local church was just about to begin a Godly Play program when Harvey totally destroyed their building and all their Godly Play items. They are determined to begin in the fall in their temporary quarters. We are helping to make lesson materials for them, so all who can help paint items, cut felt, nail and glue wood, etc. are invited to stop by our “shop” in room 212 at 9:45 on Sundays. It would be helpful to contact Marie Monroe at to schedule the larger projects.

Welcoming Neighbors Old and New: Houston to Mark World Refugee Day, Saturday, June 17

Volunteer opportunities available with Freewheels Houston and Houston Refugee Consortium

For several years, Houston has welcomed more refugees than any other city in the United States, with thousands of men, women and children from all over the world resettling in the greater Houston area, rebuilding their lives and contributing to the community in many ways.

For that reason, we honor and celebrate their strength and perseverance on World Refugee Day, which will be celebrated on Saturday, June 17, from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Levy Park, 3801 Eastside—in the Upper Kirby District, south of Richmond between Kirby and Buffalo Speedway. Continue reading
