The children of Sunday School and Wednesday Night music programs will present a Christmas Pageant on Sunday, December 16 at 10:00 a.m. in the parish hall. All are invited. They will sing the Quempas Carol, a delightful, dance-like carol beloved in Germany before and after Martin Luther. It combines three Latin carols, the first being Quem pastores, hence the title “Quempas.” The children will sing the three songs in English translation starting out with “He whom shepherds once came praising.” The audience will join in with the refrain: “God’s own Son is born a child, is born a child, God the Father is reconciled, is reconciled.”
Rehearsal will be Sunday, December 9 in the parish hall, and dress rehearsal on Wednesday, December 12 at 6:00 p.m. in the parish hall. Pizza will be offered at 5:30 p.m. All children are welcome to participate in the pageant. Those who could not attend rehearsals may participate without singing. Call time on December 16 is 9:30 a.m.; the show time will be 10:00 a.m.
Luther League, our youth group at Christ the King Church, is open to all youth in 6th – 12th grade. The group is made up of a mixture of youth, both members and non-members of this congregation. They meet on Sunday nights at 6:00 p.m. in the basement youth room. Meetings include fellowship, games, food, time to relax, films, discussions, and/or Bible studies. Depending on the night, sometimes the middle school and high school youth will divide up during discussion time to allow more in depth and age-appropriate conversations to develop. During each month there are opportunities for fellowship and service which may or may not fall on Sunday evenings. Friends and visitors are always welcome!
