Director of Youth and Family Ministry
Ben Remmert was called to serve as the Director of Youth and Family Ministry for Christ the King in July 2014. He previously served four years as Director of Youth and Family Ministry at our sister congregation, Peace Lutheran Church in Pasadena.
Ben grew up at Kinsmen Lutheran Church in north Houston. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Development and Family Studies with a minor in counseling from the University of North Texas in Denton. He earned his Master of Arts in Youth, Culture, and Mission from Wartburg Theological Seminary in Dubuque, Iowa. He is a Deacon on the roster of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.
Ben’s call into ministry grew from his work with Camp Hope Ministry, a three-week day camp ministry of the Texas Louisiana Gulf Coast Synod. He began as a junior high student working summers at Camp Hope and continued to serve there as part of the support staff, camp counselor, camp manager, and trainer. Ben remains a part of Camp Hope’s leadership team. The emphasis of his mission is to provide opportunities for children, youth, and families to discover the love and calling that God has for all people. He guides youth in discovering their gifts for ministry and helps them share those gifts with the community.
Ben loves riding his motorcycle, playing volleyball, board games, and fishing. He’s also an avid comic book collector and reader, a fascination he’s enjoyed for over 20 years.
